Confession Time.
Since becoming a mom (almost 14 years ago), I haven't been the best at nurturing and fostering friendships with other women. Between the unpredictable schedule of working for various startups, moving for jobs, and just being so darn tired all the time, I don't have ongoing, consistent interactions with other women.
Recently, this has changed.
One former colleague and I who were work friends have been going through similar career challenges and through mutual confidence boosting, providing space for each other to vent, and bonding over some of the woo-woo spiritual stuff like meditation, crystals, and manifestation practices, we check in almost daily. And it's exactly the type of relationship I didn't realize I needed so much.
The huge lesson for me is that being vulnerable with people is powerful. I also realized that I am more judgmental of myself than anyone I perceive to be judging me.
And...by being there for my friend and letting her be there for me, I'm being there for myself. Does that make sense? I'm going to post a question about this in the Facebook group: Modern Revel Downstairs and I hope you'll share your thoughts on this.
We've been talking about Dermaplaning at home. I bought a Dermaplane tool at Target that was a disappointment. After researching a bunch of reviews I went with the Michael Todd SonicSmooth and ordered it at Amazon. The YouTube video above shows how to use it.
Don't forget, the Modern Revel Summer Reading Challenge is underway. I'm reading City of Girls and am totally enamored with it.

As I've been thinking about the power of friendships and how much they truly enrich my life, I stopped scrolling Facebook to read this article about fostering friendships. That old adage of "to have a friend, you need to be a friend," is really resonating with me these days. Big time.

We are playing Friend, Fling, or Marry again and some people said "none of the above" to these TeenBeat All Stars.
