Say It With Me: I Feel Pretty
Is that something that is hard for you to say?
I get it. If I even think about saying that to myself, I stop myself to avoid feeling conceited. Or I think of someone who is much prettier than me and think I don’t have a right to say it.
But you all. We all deserve to feel pretty.
And that can mean different things to different people.
Over the last month or so (I think it had something to do with turning another year older), I’ve started shifting focus to doing things that make me * FEEL PRETTY * and in turn, it’s given me more confidence. And it’s fun. And I need to prioritize it.
Maybe it’s because I have worked in tech for most of my career and felt the need to make an impression with my brain instead of my looks.
I’m also the only female in my household so I don’t really have anyone at the ready to talk all things beauty and style.
That’s changed recently thanks in part to you all, dear Revelers. Our Downstairs community has provided a circle of friends I never knew I needed.
Thank you for that!
How are you feeling about your current style and beauty routine?
I’m almost done with my second book read for the Modern Revel Summer Reading Challenge. First I read The Islanders, I’d give it a 6/10. I have been loving City of Girls, I’d give it a 9/10.
Up Next, I plan to read The Farm.
Quick, Worthy Reads:
Baby, it’s hot outside. Turn up the AC and look at these photos of some of the coldest places on Earth to cool down.
Marie Kondo taught us to hold something in our hands and if it doesn’t bring us joy, get rid of or give it away. Including our weathered and worn clothing and things in need of repair. My friend Min share this article about the “life changing magic of making do” and it made me really think about consumerism.
Move over Hygge, what the world needs now is Niksen, sweet, Niksen. The concept sounds like exactly what my stressed self needs, but I’m not sure I could do it. Could you?
What's Happening Downstairs...
We are learning just how Millennial we are (or aren’t).
We had a dance-off.
We confessed our woowoo-ness.
